Efren Ruiz

I am a professor at the Department of Mathematics of the College of Natural and Health Sciences at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa in 1999 and my Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 2005. Before coming to the University of Hawai’i at Hilo, I spent two years at the University of Toronto as a postdoctoral fellow.

My current research interests include associated algebras (in particular Leavitt path algebras), dynamical systems, the classification of \(C^*\)-algebras, and the structure theory of \(C^*\)-algebras.
